Kenya Medical Association

KMA is a voluntary membership organization open to all medical practitioners registered in the Republic of Kenya. It is organized into 14 Divisions around the country. KMA was founded in 1968 to promote the practice of medicine in Kenya, uphold high standards of medical ethics and advise the Government and the general public on matters related to health, advocate for the welfare of doctors and support Continuing Professional Development (CPD) through periodic publications, seminars and scientific conferences. KMA has over 2000 registered members.

The day-to-day running of KMA is vested under a National Executive Committee (NEC) which consists of the Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary, Assistant Secretary and Treasurer, all elected biannually by the Association’s registered members. KMA runs most of its activities through thematic standing committees, including the HIV/AIDS Committee.

In line with its objectives, KMA has implemented several projects. Some of the major achievements of KMA include: working with the Medical Regulatory Authorities and Associations and Ministries of Health from the East African region to foster regional co-operation among the East African Member States in health. KMA has held Scientific Conferences for the last 32 years.
